After a year without any content from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Wandavision brings us back into the world of the Avengers. Kick-starting Phase 4 of the MCU, Wandavision tells a story of grief and love.
As we all know, Wandavision takes place three weeks after the events of Avengers Endgame and it explores the lives of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).

Packed with suspense, surprise and magic, Wandavision kept viewers on the edge of their seats week after week and as the suspense grew, so did the fan theories. Working with what they have seen so far in the show and from information sourced from the comic books, fans quickly pieced together a wide variety of possibilities that they believed would explain what was going on within the show.
From the nosey neighbour Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) being Agatha Harkness, a theory which later proved to be true, to a fly on the wall being the demon Mephisto, fan theories ran rampant throughout the entire run of the 9 episode show. These theories only escalated when Quicksilver (Evan Peters) appeared at the end of Episode 5 despite the fact that he was killed off in Avengers Age of Ultron. Furthermore, this Quicksilver was not the MCUs Quicksilver and was in fact the X-Men’s Quicksilver. This prompted many fans to speculate and theorise that the series would delve into the existence of the multiverse.

However, when the finale aired, all of these theories went up in smoke, like Agatha in Episode 8. The series creator even admitted that she had not even heard of the demon Mephisto, who was at the centre of many of these fan theories. The series did not delve into the existence of the multiverse like many fans had theorised and Evan Peters Quicksilver appearance was reduced to a “boner” joke.
One theory that did prove to be right was the identity of Agnes, the nosey neighbour. She turned out to be Agatha Harkness as many had suspected and the reveal was done through a clever theme song. However, the effect of the reveal was not as big as one would have hoped. Fans had long been convinced that Agnes was Agatha, so the reveal came as no surprise to a lot of them.

Furthermore, a lot of fan theories had suspected that Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) would make an appearance in the finale of the show, given the fact that Wandavision is said to be directly tied to the next Dr Strange film, Multiverse of Madness.
These theories had created a lot of excitement amongst fans and eventually, the theories proved to be larger than the show itself. Despite having a strong finale that did answer a lot of questions that viewers had, there were still a number of fans who walked away disappointed. Fans eventually became too invested in these theories and when they did not see these theories play out, there was a tinge of disappointment.
However, none of that really detracts from the amazing work done on the series as Wandavision truly proves that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to return stronger than ever. From the complex and intricate storytelling to the incredibly strong and powerful performances from the actors involved, Wandavision is truly a series unlike any other.
