After years of waiting, the Snyder Cut has finally been released and it did not disappoint. The four hour movie delved deep into the stories of all the characters involved and left multiple hints at what the Snyderverse would have played out to be.

Unlike the theatrical release, the Snyder Cut is a properly developed story that gives each individual character their own chance to shine whilst interconnecting with the other solo movies within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Despite having a similar storyline, the Snyder Cut proves that it has better direction, storytelling and production value.

Characters such as Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) no longer take a back seat in this cut as they are now portrayed as prominent and vital members of the team. We see the true extent of their powers as they both play key roles throughout the entire film. The true potential of the character of Cyborg is unlocked within the Snyder Cut and it is a shame that the DCEU has chosen to ignore such a pivotal and powerful storyline.

Various new characters can also be seen making their very first appearance within this cut. Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix), Deathstroke (Joe Magnaniello) and Darkseid (Ray Porter) all set up future projects that the DCEU could have undertaken to further expand the Snyderverse. Unfortunately, Warner Brothers has chosen to chase after what the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has instead of focusing on the unique storylines and characters that the DCEU has to offer.

The Snyder Cut features the Knightmare timeline, where many significant characters have been killed off and as hinted in the film, in brutal ways. The dark undertones to the entire film are something that is unique to the DCEU and something that the MCU has not done yet. Instead of pursuing this new take on superhero movies, Warner Brothers has instead chosen the route that has been tried time and time again before.

Following the release of the Snyder Cut, fans have been relentlessly advocating for Warner Brothers to restore the Snyderverse. Zac Snyder has also revealed what the following Justice League movies would have looked like which has caused fans to be even more passionate in their fight to restore the Snyderverse. However, Warner Brothers have confirmed that they have no plans to do so, in fact they are planning to erase the Snyderverse from the DCEU in the upcoming Flash movie.

The Snyderverse may never be restored but it is clear proof that the DCEU could have been so much more. The film proves to viewers that the DCEU could have had so much potential to become something more and unfortunately what that may have been may never be known to us.
